Military service and first-responder work can shape how you carry stress, how you connect, and how you see yourself. You don’t need to be in crisis to reach out. Sometimes it’s about sleep, irritability, feeling on edge, feeling disconnected, or realizing that what worked before isn’t working the same way now. My goal is to offer a steady, respectful space where we can make sense of what you’re carrying and build practical steps forward.
How it can show up
You might be dealing with:
Exposure to high-stress situations, trauma, or morally difficult events
Feeling “keyed up,” on guard, or unable to fully settle
Sleep disruption, nightmares, or memories that pull you back into the past
Irritability, anger cycles, emotional shutdown, or feeling disconnected
Burnout and feeling “always on”
I approach this work with respect, clarity, and a pace that feels safe. Therapy isn’t about forcing a retelling of events. It’s about understanding what your mind and body learned to do to get you through, helping things settle, and building steadier ways forward.
What you can expect
Expect a practical, grounded approach that balances structure and flexibility. We’ll focus on what matters most right now, build tools you can use in real life, and keep progress clear and doable. If you’re using Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), Canadian Armed Forces and Royal Canadian Mounted Police coverage. I’m an approved provider and sessions can be billed directly to Medavie Blue Cross; this process stays straightforward while we stay focused on your goals.
How we’ll work
In therapy, we’ll:
Clarify what’s bringing you in and what you want to be different
Identify patterns that show up under pressure (sleep, reactivity, shutdown, avoidance)
Strengthen coping, grounding, and steadiness for day-to-day life
Work with body-based awareness and real-time emotional moments when helpful
Support identity, purpose, and reintegration challenges when they’re part of the picture
